This list includes plants milk that:
- contain no oil
- Additionally: contain no coconut products (because typically from extracted high-fat cream) and no lecithin (which is a pure extracted fat).
- are suitable for vegans (no ingredients of animal origin)
Note: I’ve only formally checked the suitability for vegans for Vitasoy so far, only (too) quickly the other brands. Double-check in doubt.
It is relevant for people following a low-fat (incl. oil-free) whole-food plant-based diet.
In spite of being most definitely preferable to any amount of dairy, plant milks are still highly refined products, almost inevitably. This said, in cultures like the Western cultures that have traditionally built a high-dependence on dairy, plant milks can be a convenient crutch in a Whole Food Plant-Based diet for recipes/meals that call for milk.
Like with any other refined product, there is value in minimising quantity and frequency, and favouring instead delicious, solid, nutrient-dense, whole plant foods instead.
